As reported by News18, from 1080p HD prints to 240p rips, every version was leaked on popular pirated sites within hours, making the film widely available for free. Written by Chandhru Anbazhagan and Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie stars Rajinikanth as Deva, Shruti Haasan as Preethi, Nagarjuna as Simon, and Aamir Khan as Dahaa.
